I have been with Adamstown Veterinary Hospital since June of 2004. Prior to joining AVH, I was a large animal veterinarian with special interest in dairy. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 1998. “Go Bucks.” Today, I enjoy small-animal practice. Areas of special interest to me are dentistry, preventative care, root canals, oral/nasal surgery, general medicine, and the business side of veterinary medicine.
Outside the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife, Erin, and all our furry “kids”: Razz, Odin, Babe, Cash, Maeve and Blitz. My hobbies include watching Buckeye football, competitive archery, member of local organizations, fishing and training dogs with my wife.
I joined the staff of Adamstown Veterinary Hospital in 2004. I fulfilled my lifetime dream of becoming a veterinarian when I graduated from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1998 and moved to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to begin my career. My areas of interest include dermatology, internal medicine and preventative medicine/wellness care.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, John, and my Labrador and Newfoundland “children”: Odin, Razz, Cash, Maeve, Babe, and Blitz. I am very active in training my dogs for obedience, water work and draft competitions as well as spending time with my friends, outdoor activities, and reading. I look forward to developing a relationship with new clients and their “fur children”, as well as continuing to grow with our existing client relationships.
Dr. Slanga (Dr. Pat) has been practicing in the Berks/Lancaster area since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994. She has a special interest in exotic and aquatic animal medicine and has trained at several zoos as well as the National Aquarium in Baltimore. (She’ll treat anything with a pulse-or a reasonable facsimile). She also has a strong interest in both soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery and has received extensive post graduate training in both of these areas.
When she is not working, Dr. Pat likes to tend to her gardens (Ooo look a butterfly!), including a Japanese garden maintained for the comfort and pleasure of her ducks, chickens and koi. She also shares her life with many other animals including (but not limited to) cats, quail, frogs (poison dart and horned), geckos (day), rodents and hermit crabs. Her heart, though, will always belong to her wee Scotsman.
Dr. Jen is the most recent doctor hired at Adamstown Veterinary Hospital. She recently graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, but was born and raised in Lancaster County, PA. Even though four years were spent on the Virginia Tech campus, Dr. Jen’s football allegiance is to her undergraduate alma mater- Penn State!
While not at work, Dr. Jen enjoys anytime spent with her favorite boy, Tucker (a ‘Heinz 57 variety special!) as well as hiking, traveling, and, of course, watching college football. (“We are …”)
