Sue Beaver – Bookkeeper, Business Manager

Hello! My name is Sue Beaver and I have been with Adamstown Veterinary Hospital since May of 1989. Some of the clients have joked that I came with the mortgage! My son, Andy, was 10 by then and I felt the need to get back to work part-time. Although my degree was in secondary education, my heart was not. I began at the front desk at Adamstown Veterinary Hospital and eventually learned the entire front and back jobs, such as being a technician, well enough to fill in for anyone. Due to some restructuring of the company in 1995 along with the help of Dr. Robert Hutchison, I became the bookkeeper/business manager, the job which I hold to this day with Dr. John O’Neill and Dr. Erin Murphy whom purchased the business in the fall of 2004.
My special interest has always been equine related and always will be, although I no longer ride. I found out the hard way that I don’t bounce! My husband of 38 years and I live just three miles from the hospital so it has always been a convenient location for me. We have lived here since 1972. I was born in the coal regions but later moved to West Lawn, Berks County. We love this area and our friends and cannot ever imagine moving away. Nor can I imagine not helping Adamstown Veterinary Hospital to succeed. It feels like a part of me and I am proud of the quality medicine we practice.

Lauren David – Office Manager

Hello!  My name is Lauren David.  I joined the Adamstown Veterinary Hospital team in 2007 as a veterinary technician, and now hold the position of office manager.  I have been around pets all my life, and enjoy working with them tremendously.  I have over 10 years of experience as a veterinary technician, and worked as the kennel supervisor at the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area for several years.  I moved from Harrisburg to Ephrata 5 years ago and just love it here!
I am married and have two fantastic children, William (age 11) and Seraphine (age 4).  We live with quite a zoo at our house.  There are three cats, two chinchillas, three mice, an Amazon parrot, several goldfish, and one extremely patient grandmother. In my down time, I enjoy reading, playing video games, watching movies, and just hanging out with my family.  I am crazy about amusement parks (especially roller coasters), ice hockey, and anything to do with the water.

Kim Franck – CVT

Hello! I am one of the Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT) at Adamstown Veterinary Hospital. After graduating from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA, with a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medical Technology in May of 2006, I started my career at the hospital in May 2006. Since then, I have been able to continue my education by attending various classes and seminars, highlighting modern techniques and topics in veterinary medicine (dentistry, anesthesia and radiography, to mention a few).
I grew up in Denver, Pennsylvania, and have always had the privilege of sharing my childhood with beagles. Those beloved nose-to-the-ground hounds have inspired me since an early age to explore the outdoors and take time to appreciate the small details, to relish life’s simple pleasures. Thank you Oakley!
I married my husband, Jim, on October 6, 2007, and have been living in Reinholds, PA, since then. We share our home with two wonderful retired racing greyhounds, Lionel (adopted December 2006) and Neila (adopted June 2009). I have found it so amazing and rewarding, watching the greyhounds transform from strictly regimented ‘racing machines’ to happy ‘real dogs’ (still capable of running 40 mph in tight circles around our backyard).
I enjoy walking with Jim and the hounds on the trails of Blue Marsh and at Middle Creek, as well as the familiar streets of our development. I also enjoy playing piano, participating in church activities, occasional trips to the beach (I love beachcombing!), and taking Lionel to therapy dog visits to local retirement homes. I take delight in experiencing the different bonds that people share with animals. I am proud to be part of the veterinary team at Adamstown Veterinary Hospital and look forward to providing quality, progressive care to the furry members of your family.

Becci Harris – CVT

I became a certified veterinary technician in 2007 shortly after graduating from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, Pa with a specialized Associates Degree in Veterinary Medicine.  I was employed at a clinic in Kentucky for 3&1/2 years until I relocated back to my hometown in Pennsylvania in August 2011, when I then started working at Adamstown Veterinary Hospital.  2011 was a big year for me!  I also got married and my husband and I plan to start our “two-legged” family hopefully in a few years.  As a CVT, I enjoy phlebotomy, radiology, and especially neonatal care.  I have fostered many animals from kittens to an opossom, and look forward to fostering many more!  I have also worked with a raptor rescue (large birds of prey) in Cincinatti for a short time, and loved working with those marvelous birds.  At home, I have two dogs, an intelligent Jack Russell/Blue Heeler mix (Baby Girl), a goofy Lab mix (Duncan), a longhaired calico cat (Josephine), and a ball python (Nagini).  I also have a paint horse named Hank.  Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, horseback riding, and the occasional video game.
