Owner & Medical Director
Dr. John O’Neill has proudly served the pets and families of Lancaster, Berks, and Lebanon Counties for more than two decades. As Owner and Medical Director of Adamstown Veterinary Hospital since 2004, he has helped grow the practice into one of the region’s largest independently owned veterinary hospitals while remaining committed to the values that inspired him to become a veterinarian: compassion, integrity, and exceptional patient care.
A 1998 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. O’Neill began his veterinary career in large animal medicine with a particular interest in cattle production, especially Black Angus cattle. Over time, his professional interests evolved toward companion animal medicine, where he developed advanced expertise in veterinary dentistry, root canal therapy, oral surgery, nasal surgery, preventive medicine, and general practice.
Dr. O’Neill is a Fear Free Certified Professional and is passionate about creating a positive, low-stress experience for pets and their families. He believes that reducing fear, anxiety, and stress is an essential part of delivering exceptional veterinary care.
In addition to leading Adamstown Veterinary Hospital, Dr. O’Neill expanded his commitment to the local community through the acquisition of Warwick Run Animal Clinic. Together, the hospitals share a common mission of providing progressive, compassionate veterinary care while maintaining the personal relationships and community focus that define independent veterinary medicine.
One of Dr. O’Neill’s greatest professional passions is veterinary mentorship and leadership development. He enjoys helping veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff grow professionally while fostering a culture built on teamwork, accountability, respect, and lifelong learning.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. O’Neill enjoys spending time with his wife and family, including their three dogs, Bailey, Bevie, and Hope. His interests include fly fishing, travel, supporting local organizations, and cheering on Ohio State football and Villanova basketball.
